Academic Vocabulary Words, Nonwords, and High Frequency Real Words

This treatment study compared the use of academic vocabulary words, nonwords, and high frequency real words in 11- and 19-session treatment programs with 3- to 6-year-old children.

  • We are currently in the process of creating new academic vocabulary stimuli that are presented in single pictures (rather than in storybooks). The files below contain zip files of two types of pictures, one with with and one without story text (pictures are illustrated by INKCADRE). Currently the words/pictures contain words beginning with /r/, /l/, /k/, /s/, and "ch", but additional sounds such as /f/, /v/, and "th" may be future targets. We are also in the process of creating vocabulary learning activities targeting these academic vocabulary words. Check back in December 2018 for updates. Last updated 21 February 2019.
